They were four.

Four lost souls sent apon the world to bring chaos and destruction in the eyes of many and in the eyes of few, they brought order and peace.

They were four.

Four tortured individuals who hated life more than anything. They cursed the universe for its continuation of their miserable existance.

They were four.
 

Sent out in to commit unspeakable crimes against humanity in service of their master. Knowing that only they could perform these tasks with precision and tenacity.
 

They were four.
 

One brought one brought pestilence, one brought famine, one brought war, the last brought death.

They were four...

Were they happy souls at one time?

We dont know.

Did they enjoy their missions and assignments?

We dont know.

What we DO know is that they have tormented minds and seek peace. But they were not designed for peace. They were designed to bring suffering.

All but one accepted their duty. It was Pestilence who started the rebelion. Followed by Famine. The two of them conspired against the others and against their master. They could no longer endure the duties cast apon them. War saw this and shunned them in the beginning. But in the back of his mind he would always wonder why. After countless acts of violence War made a decision. He would no longer be War. He cast off his robes and left. Pestilence and Famine follwed War. Only Death remained.

There was no only one.
 

Death never shows emotions. He never lets you know what he is thinking. He appears, does his work, and then disappears. You never see him, you never hear him, but you know he is there. Death agreed to let the other three walk away. He went to the master. The master instructed the three wayward souls that they must never speak of their crimes. And their punishment for disbanding is to never find peace.

The master replaced the three with three more.

Once again...

There are four and the universe is now in order.
